Plans for Future Snow Days

Plans for Future Snow Days
Posted on 01/24/2023

With continued inclement weather approaching, we want to communicate plans in the event of a third and fourth emergency closure day. As a reminder, the district used two emergency days on December 16, 2022 and January 23, 2023.

The NYS Board of Regents requires all school districts in the state to have 180 instructional days and a total of 990 hours at the secondary level and 900 hours at the elementary level. This year's school calendar includes two traditional snow days at the elementary level, three traditional snow days grade 6, and four traditional snow days at the secondary level. If a third emergency day is necessary, our PreK-5 students will participate in a remote learning day which qualifies toward the state instructional requirements. If a fourth emergency snow day is necessary, our PreK-6 students will participate in remote learning day.

Plans for a Third Emergency Day
Elementary students (grades PreK-5) will have a remote learning day. Elementary students will sign into their Google Classroom at 8:00 a.m.
Junior/Senior High students (grades 6-12) will have a traditional snow day.

Plans for a Fourth Emergency Day
Elementary students (grades PreK-5) will have a remote learning day. Elementary students will sign into their Google Meet at 8:00 a.m.

Grade 6 will have a remote learning day. Grade 6 students will sign into their Google Meet at 8:00 a.m.

Junior/Senior High students (grades 7-12) will have a traditional snow day.

It is important that students bring their devices home each day, so they are prepared for a remote learning day. Additional information and support will be provided by the classroom teachers.
